Who is Matt Gray?

Matt Gray is generating an impressive $13.8 million annually through his two online businesses.

He is the founder and CEO of Herb, a cannabis media and commerce platform, where he has built a massive community of 14 million followers and generated a significant portion of his revenue.

His second venture, Founder OS, which is also thriving beautifully, generates revenue through courses, coaching sessions, and masterminds.

As you have probably noticed, his main focus remains on content creation and building his personal brand.

This strategy ensures he is always prepared for the best opportunities.

As I mentioned in previous emails:

"Media travels and earns while you sleep. It searches the world for opportunities for you. Code is even better." - Naval Ravikant

Let’s dive in.

How he started

Matt Gray began his career managing retail locations for Kraft Heinz.

In 2012, he co-founded Bitmaker Labs, a coding school based in Canada, which was later acquired by General Assembly.

In 2014, he joined The Stoner’s Cookbook as CEO and acquired the company in 2015, rebranding it as Herb.

Under his leadership, Herb has grown into a leading cannabis media and commerce platform with over 14 million members.

Motivation & Discipline

At the stage he is at right now, I believe his motivation is self-mastery, always conquering himself.

As Marianne Williamson said, "The top of one mountain is always the bottom of another."

Matt is an advocate of systems and freedom.

Like every entrepreneur, he looks for less headache and independent growth for his business while he can travel the world, hang out with friends, and fully experience life.

Matt’s want list:

  • To create something that he wants to spend the rest of his life working on.

  • To get $30M cash in the bank in the next 3 years.

  • To work from anywhere on his schedule.

  • To be the fittest he has ever been.

  • To have a deep sense of connection and love while building.

Growth Strategy in detail.

1. Overthinking is the silent killer of progress.

You are looking for perfection because of fear: fear of failure after huge investments: years of your life, your savings, quitting your job, judgment from family and friends..

Let’s assume there is someone trying to sabotage you because, he is fearing you. I can tell that he can’t drag you down better than you can sabotage yourself not even 1% of your ability to wash your own mind. You know exactly where to strike.

You, in person, are the most fearful enemy of yourself, the most powerful Trojan horse.

Better to keep your energy to persuade yourself for the good, to grind, to be consistent, focused, and ready to finish no matter what.

"Without commitment, you’ll never start, but more importantly, without consistency, you’ll never finish."- Denzel Washington

2. Deep Work is your daily sacred time

I am sure you have read every article, watched every video, analyzed every step, and made the best plan, but without taking action, you'll become an expert in overthinking rather than in what truly matters.

Take your 4 hours of deep work as your secret power behind the scenes; it becomes your strength if done, or your first weakness if neglected.

The best time of the day to do deep work is early as possible in the morning.

Each night write down your 9 most important tasks, let your mind process them overnight, and conquer the day relaxed and focused.

“To be successful at anything, you don't have to be different. You simply have to be what most people aren't: consistent."- Adam Robinson”

"Deep work is the ability to focus without distraction on a cognitively demanding task. It’s a skill that allows you to quickly master complicated information and produce better results in less time." – Cal Newport, Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World

"A deep life is a good life." – Cal Newport
